At Abbott House, we believe every child deserves a nurturing environment where they are supported, valued, and safe. That’s why we have devoted over 80 years to providing residential treatment, therapeutic foster care, and independent living services that make a lasting impact on the youth and families we serve.

Our Story

Abbott House has served countless children and families in need since opening our doors in Mitchell, SD, in 1939. Over the years, we have expanded our services to Sioux Falls and Rapid City to keep up with the growing needs of youth across the state. We are committed to helping those we work with succeed and are continually evolving to ensure success for every person who walks through our doors.

Our Services

Bridges Intensive Foster Care
Our Intensive Foster Care program offers an escape from harmful living situations and represents a safe place to call home.

Residential Treatment
Empowers young women, ages 7–18, to heal, thrive, and grow through compassionate, trauma informed care.

Independent Living
Offers the opportunity for young adults to enjoy an independent living experience while continuing to receive therapeutic services.
