Located in the Southern Black Hills, Sandy Bottom Campground is your gateway
to South Dakota’s popular destinations. You can explore the picturesque Angostura
Reservoir, drive to the charming city of Hot Springs, experience the spectacular
Fall River Balloon Festival, try your luck at the Prairie Wind Casino, or visit the
many state and national parks!
Sandy Bottom Campground is located just 2 miles from the iconic Angostura reservoir,
featuring Water Sports, Hiking, Fishing, Biking, and clean Beaches. The city of
Hot Springs is a short 8-mile drive from your campsite. While in Hot Springs take
a short drive through the town and take in the turn-of-the-century style buildings
and unique sandstone architecture throughout the downtown area. While in
Hot Springs you will be able to attend attractions such as The Mammoth Site,
Evans Plunge Mineral Springs, World Fossil Finder Museum, and Moccasin Springs
Natural Mineral Spa. Hot Springs is home to the most beautiful 18-hole golf course.
The Hot Springs Municipal Airport is Located right across Hwy 385 from Sandy
Bottom Campground, where you can watch the Fall River Balloon Festival kick off
with a launch of over 20 Hot Air balloons from Hot Springs Municipal Airport,
or you can enjoy the launch from your campsite! Saturday Night features the
“Glow around Town” with the incredible spectacle of glowing balloons, you can
find more details at fallriverballoonfest.com. Prairie Wind Casino located on the
Pine ridge reservation, is a top South Dakota Casino, featuring 382 slot machines,
table games, and bingo. Just 28 miles from Sandy Bottom Campground.
Just 15 miles from your campsite you can experience Wind Cave National Park.
The park has an abundant number of Bison, elk, and other wildlife roaming the
rolling prairie, and is one of America’s oldest national parks. Custer State Park,
featuring 71,000 acres of forest and home to an abundant amount of wildlife and
adventure and only 36 miles from your campsite. While you are visiting Custer
State Park stop by Mount Rushmore National Monument, and Crazy Horse
Monument 39 miles from Sandy Bottom. Badlands National Park is also a
South Dakota favorite, 57 miles from Sandy Bottom, and Historic Deadwood
entertaining and gaming since 1876 is 97 miles from your campsite.

Campground is open year around Our campground and Store are staffed 7 days a week. Online reservations can be booked at anytime. Check In and Check Out times are at 4pm, you may enter the park anytime after 4pm with an Online reservation using Online check in & Check out.General Store Open from May 1st through September 1st
